-The Maltese is one of the most ancient of dog breeds.

- Archeological evidence puts the breed in the Egyptian culture around 300 BC to 600 BC, where they were worshipped by the royal families.

- Their images have been depicted on Greek vases that date back to 500BC.

- The first written record of the Maltese was by Greek Philosopher; Aristotle around 350 BC, where he records the origins of the breed to the island of Malta, in the Mediterranean Sea; and hence its name became “Maltese”.
